Grain of Wood

In 2011, Eric van de Kerkhof and Marco Dekkers played together for 1 year when they asked Janco van der Kaaden and Martin Senders to join the band and record a debut album early 2012.
They officially became Grain of Wood, releasing in 2013 a debut album, Welcome Home.


Eric

Eric played for almost 18 years in a rock band called "Mennen". He recorded 5 studio-albums and 2 live-albums with this band. He worked with producers Erwin Musper (Van Halen, Anouk) and Wolfgang Stach (Guano Apes), toured in South-Europe and the USA and did a lot of support-acts.
The final show Mennen played was at the famous Wacken open Air festival.

In 2007 Eric decided to quit the band and recorded his first solo album "Perfect Lives" where he writes all the songs in a mix between jazz-jazzrock-fusion. After "Perfect Lives" Eric started to write new material what later became the debut album "Welcome Home".

Janco is a freelance percussion player from Utrecht. He studied latin percussion with Amsterdam-based percussionist Bart Fermie, who also introduced him to the 'cajòn'.
He's been playing setups built around these wonderful boxes ever since, trying to find a mix between percussion and the traditional drumset.

Janco has worked with numerous musicians and bands such as Gotcha!, Bert vd Brink, Jennifer Ewbank, Theo de Jong, Peter Tiehuis, Mike Boddé, Leonie Meijer, Julya Lo'ko and many others. Also he performed on many stages in Holland and Belgium like North Sea Jazz Festival, Brussels'Jazzmarathon, Oerol, Paradiso, Melkweg, Tivoli and Flagey.

Marco is a self-taught guitarist from `s-Hertogenbosch. He played in various groups, including accompanying singer-songwriters and jazz-vocalists, and playing in soul and pop-rock groups, appeared on differend recordings with these. Builds his own guitars,enjoys the wide variety of building and playing ways, of this great instrument.

Martin Senders is a Double Bass player living in 's Hertogenbosch.
He studied bass at the conservatories of Arnhem and Enschede with Henk Haverhoek and Ruud Ouwehand. Graduated on Bassguitar and Double Bass but primarily works as a Double Bass player.

A Freelance musician who has worked with national and international Jazz musicians next to session-leader, studiomusician and bassteacher.
